Not once did I say i wanted to call URC for vendor support since if you can figure it out i guarantee i can. I know that there are soooooo many items that require vendor training and approval in the residential electricians field. Not someone trying to be an online clown. I was asking honest questions and expected honest answers.

And if I have any problems can I call the manufacturer for some free tech support, ask a bunch of stupid questions, and tie up the phone line for the dealers who are actually paying for the product?ĭavet2020, thank you for giving an asshole answer. I would just like to see if I can wing it and figure it out myself.
MX 780 SOFTWARE INSTALL
I would like to install it but I don't want to go to any rep for proper training. I am a URC programmer and I was given some electrical stuff. I just hope maybe 1 of you will understand and possibly help me out. I am sure most of you will not agree with how i am approaching this. This is why i would like to try it myself at home 1st. So just droping what i am doing to take a class before i know if its even something worth doing is not going to happen. My company is small and i work every day with the tools and then spend hours in the office after work doing prints, bills, etsimates, etc. I just am not ready to jump feet 1st into this system before knowing more about it myself. This 1 remote control is all i have and i received it by a fluke.
I also see that sometimes people do give out the software. I realize i may be beating a dead horse and know this topic has been covered more than a few times here and on other forums. This put me leaps and bounds ahead of other class mates and was able to focus on more advanced skills they taught us. Just as before i started installing networks and other wifi components i did alot of self educating at home with my own equipment before i took some classes. This allows me a basic knowledge base before walking into a classroom. However like every thing i have learned to this date i started by self teaching myself some of the basics and then furthering my education with classes.

I do understand why URC makes their software for dealer/installers only. if someone can help me find the software needed for programming i would greatly appreciate it. I would like to have it just to maybe learn some and attempt my remote programming before i decide it may be something i can spend $$ to take classes to become an installer and add URC systems to my customer options. I know its available online somewhere and many of you will frown apon me acquiring it behind URC's back. It could be something i can add to my "can do" things for customers. I would like to get the software to try and learn the URC setup. As an electrician i have installed Sonos systems and various other stereo/wifi setups. I would love to learn more about URC and the programming needed but i dont have the luxury of attending classes at the moment. I was told tough luck unless i pay for them to come and program it for me but i would not be given software even though they can give out software. I then contacted my local vendor who is about 50 miles away. I contacted URC and was told that the software was only available to dealers. So i started to do some research and found that this remote needs software to program it. Once home i tried to program the remote with no luck.
At the time i knew nothing about URC but the remote was cool with the LCD screen.
MX 780 SOFTWARE TV
The remote was a URC MX-780 and does not controll the TV for some reason. The TV is a samsung 60" LED and it came with a remote control. I recently purchased a TV from a estate/garage sale.
